Commission Art Work Process

For your custom-made artwork, please take note of the following when starting a commission from scratch:

Art Work

My commissioned art process is designed to be efficient and collaborative, ensuring a seamless experience for my clients.

  • It begins with an initial inquiry and consultation, where I discuss the client’s vision, preferences, and project specifics.
  • After finalizing the details, I will create a comprehensive proposal outlining the scope, timeline(approximately four-six weeks), and cost, followed by a formal agreement.
  • The next step will be to develop initial sketches and a raw digital presentation and gather client feedback via WhatsApp or email to refine the concept.
  • 50% non refundable retainer required before I start with the commissioned artwork.
  • I craft the final artwork with the approved concept, keeping the client updated with regular progress reports. Upon completion, I present the artwork for final approval and arrange delivery.
  • I maintain clear communication throughout the process, ensuring the final piece perfectly captures the client’s vision, keeping you updated and involved every step of the way.

Ceramics

Some things to keep in mind:

  • For most items, my production process takes around four weeks. This allows me to ensure the highest quality and attention to detail in every piece, giving you a product that’s truly worth the wait.
  • While some glazes and clays may not be readily available, rest assured, I’ll go above and beyond to source the materials you desire. Your satisfaction is our utmost priority.
  • There is no extra cost for commission pieces. To get an idea of what an item will cost, look for similar items in my shop.
  • I’ll provide you with a quote before starting the work, ensuring transparency and your peace of mind.
  • 50% non refundable retainer required for commissioned work.

Commissioned artwork varies from R1,200 to R35,000, depending on the size, form of art, and medium used. Commissioned ceramic objects range from R350 to R4,500. Send me an email at info@denisecelia.com to discuss your request and for further information.

The current turnaround time for commissioned artwork is approximately 3-6 months, depending on the scope of work, size, and medium used to complete the commission. For ceramic objects, the duration varies based on the quantity and size of the object, ranging from 4 to 6 weeks.

Yes, I offer shipping within South Africa and internationally. Please provide your delivery address when inquiring so that we can provide an accurate quote.

Please keep the following information in mind:
I use The Courier Guy for local orders, and FedEx International for international orders. The shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer, and the order will be insured.

For shipments to countries outside of South Africa, a local company that specializes in crate packaging, for fragile ceramic objects and artwork will handle the shipping. The shipping costs and cost of crate will be added to your enquiry.

Once your order is shipped, you will receive a confirmation email containing tracking details. Please be aware that we do not ship to Post Offices.

In the unlikely event that you receive a cracked or broken item in your order, please send pictures to info@denisecelia.com immediately. The item will be replaced, but you may be required to repay duties/taxes on the replacement item.

Once you have placed your order, I will send you an invoice with payment instructions. For orders within the country, you can make payment via EFT/direct bank transfer or use the Yoco credit/debit card link that will be sent to you via email. For international orders, you can make payments with a credit or debit card through Yoco, a trusted South African online payment gateway. Please note that your order will not be confirmed or shipped until the payment has been cleared.
