The Focus

The Open Table Series is a residency designed for makers who want to push the boundaries of creativity. Held in a working studio setting, these sessions provide a space to refine your technique under the guidance of Denise Celia. We focus on form, the nuances of working with porcelain(or any other clay), selecting the right tools, and solving those technical "fears" that often keep a beautiful idea stuck in the clay.

The Details

R650 per 4-hour session

Perfect for those with a specific project in mind or those who want to experience the studio environment without a long-term commitment.

Flexible Access: Book as many 4-hour slots as you need throughout April and May.
Studio Use: Includes use of all professional sculpting tools, bats, shelving and studio equipment.
Guided Support: I will be in the studio to offer advice and help you navigate the delicate nature of porcelain.
Firing Included: Price covers bisque and glaze firing for your pieces.
Excluded: Clay (purchased on-site per kg) and brush-on specialty glazes.

Please arrive on time to settle into the studio rhythm. I recommend wearing hardy, comfortable clothing suited for working in a studio. "I’ll provide the aprons and the good vibes, just bring the willingness to get your hands dirty."

Porcelain requires a slow, delicate drying time. Once your work has been fired through the kiln, I will notify you to collect or courier it. Please ensure all sculptural forms fit within your allocated 30cm x 30cm shelf space to ensure safe drying.

As this is a shared creative workspace, I kindly request that makers respect the quiet nature. All tools must be cleaned and returned to their designated places at the end of the session to maintain the flow of the studio.
